We here at ReviewsVaporizers.com applaud Gus for his efforts. It’s always nice to see others sharing their knowledge of vapes with the rest of the community. Back to the topic at hand, the Pax vaporizers have been improved via a lubricant that’s intended to resolve issues with the mouthpieces getting stuck. Their color has also been modified so they’re not quite as shiny as they originally were. At this point, after testing the new lube, we’re impressed and fairly certain that Ploom has really put the required effort into resolving Pax problems. Good job. On an unrelated note, it looks like the Ascent vaporizers have finally arrived. They’re available for pre-order and will be shipping out this month. Those who remember DaVinci vapes will probably want to jump on this opportunity to own what could very well be the next best portable vaporizer. Quite possibly better than Ploom Pax, but we’ll just have to wait and see like the rest of you because ours has yet to arrive.

Pinnacle VS VaporBLUNT 2.0:

Those of you wondering how the Pinnacle stacks up against the likes of the VaporBlunt 2.0 DLX, also by the same company, should read this segment carefully because we’re going to explain the key differences between the two. Both offer water filter attachments, flavored mouthpieces, are cordless portables, and have multiple preset temperatures to choose from. While the VB2 actually has more preset temperatures and does liquids/oils in addition to dry-blends, whereas Pinnacle vapes only work with dry blend and not liquids, it’s the Pinnacle that actually produces a superior quality of vapor between the two. The vapor produced is considerably denser and more visible. As a result, our testing has concluded that the Pinnacle vaporizers are actually preferable to the VB 2.0s.

Technical Information:

This travel friendly pocket vape automatically shuts off after 10 minutes as an added safety feature. This also helps conserve the battery, as the device will not remain on for an extended period of time while not in use. The battery is covered by a 90 warranty, which is normal, however, the unit itself is covered by a 1 year replacement manufacturer’s warranty that is restricted to normal use. The rechargeable battery is capable of operating at any altitude; making it a great accessory for hikers, snowboarders, skiers, and the like. Roughly 15-20 draws of vapor can be expected per filling cartridge. Distributors such as Got Vape are recommending 6 hours of charging upon arrival of the unit in order to season the lith-ion battery for constant use. The unit itself measures 5.5″ x 1″ x 1″ and weighs 3.2 ounces.

Hammer Construction

While all of this is certainly subject to change without our awareness, the Hammer vapes are currently made with a stainless steel hot air path that turns into a glass pathway right before the hot air reaches the blend. In our minds, this makes the actual vapor pathway that of glass. The borax glass stems are hand-blown in the USA and contain a little mesh screen; they’re available in two sizes. They employ an electric ignition system to ignite the butane and the butane exhaust is vented out of the top of the unit and travels a path separate from the hot air used to create vapor and the vapor itself. The stainless steel heat exchange heats up in about 30 seconds which is much faster than some of the other vapes on the market. The unit measures less than 5″ tall and is something that you can fit into your pocket just about as easy as you can stuff a ThermoVape T1 into your pocket.

Is The Hammer The Best Vaporizer For You?

If you’re looking for a one-hit vaporizer that heats up quick and doesn’t take minutes to hours to recharge, the Hammer might be just what you want. Not quite as many temperature presets as the Puffit, but still a couple more than the widely acclaimed Pax, these new Vapor Blunts have five temperature settings to choose from. They are powered by rechargeable lithium ion batteries, located internally. Warm up time isn’t the fastest, but it’s far from the slowest, as it comes in at roughly 90 seconds or 1.5 minutes. A fully charged battery offers anywhere from 1 to 2 hours of uninterrupted vaporizing. Cycling through the range of vaporizer temperatures, which begin at 370F and end with a high 470F on this unit, requires no more than the simple press of a button. To access the filling chamber, you simply unscrew the Trim Ring located on the bottom of the device and insert your blend (preferably ground) into the stainless steel heating chamber. For use with aromatherapy oils, simply use the essential oil filling chamber and glass mouthpiece.

Cleaning & Warranty:

The stainless steel screen is removable and allows for quick and painless cleaning without requiring any disassembling of the device. Bamboo cleaning sticks provided with the unit can be used to remove the screen when it comes time to clean. A manufacturer’s replacement warranty covers the unit for 1 year and is restricted to normal use. The battery, on the other hand, is only covered by a 90 day warranty.

Water Filtration Attachment:

The Hydro Tube accompanies the Vapor Blunt Deluxe, but can also be purchased separate as an accessory or upgrade. The Hydro Tube accessory allows for water filtration and cooling of the vapor. It measures 9.75″ long with an outer diameter of 1.5″ and it, just like the new VaporBlunt portable vaporizer, is American made. The Tube when used with the stand allows the unit to rest vertically while being used. We think that this attachment is a necessity if you’re intent on experiencing the true capacity of the VaporBlunt’s ability to produce high quality vapor. Though, it’s worth noting that this accessory takes away from the portability aspect dramatically due to the size.

Palm vapes are currently selling for $109.99 on a couple of different vaporizer stores, not including any discounts that may be applicable at this time. Why launch another review website when we’ve already got this 100% functional property to work with? Well, the reality is that we never expected to receive as much attention as we did. Thermo Essence took another shot at creating a portable vaporizer with the vapor quality of a desktop with their new Cera. While we don’t quite have a Cera vaporizer review, we’ll be sure to have one up as soon as we manage to acquire a functional demo. Entirely manufactured in the USA, this could very well be one of the units to keep an eye on in 2013.

VaporBlunt made a return to the game in 2012 with their Palm vaporizer. The Palm has been upgraded to enhance the usability by relocating the battery. Not only was the Palm upgraded shortly after having been released, a new version of the old school VaporBlunt was released. VaporBlunt 2.0 is a portable vaporizer with water filtration that could very well provide competition for the VapeXhale Cloud vaporizers and their innovative water filtration system.

The new Thermo Essence Cera vaporizer is more durable, a bit larger, and a lot more expensive than the ThermoVape T1 (the last portable they released), but, the vapor quality is supposedly exceptional and the battery offers around 40 minutes of uninterrupted vape time.  As they’re still in the pre-order phase and we have yet to get our hands on one, we can’t tell you just yet how well this portable vaporizer compares to the other new portables that have been released or are scheduled for release, however, the increased battery longevity, durability, and vapor quality have captured our attention.

 
Pax vaporizers impressed the likes of us to the extent that we bestowed upon it our highest rating to date.  For some users, the seemingly excessive amount of cleaning required to keep it functional, but, for those of us that don’t mind giving our vaporizers a thorough cleaning, this is the portable vaporizer to have.  Three temperatures to vape on, slim design, reasonable battery life, and quality vapor production have made the Pax a serious contender for the best portable vaporizer.

 
VapeXHale Cloud vaporizers appear to have something in common with the new VaporBlunts, as both utilize water filtration in combination with vaporization in an attempt to raise the bar in vapor quality.

Vaporizers are essentially broken down into three categories which are based on the three methods of vaporizing techniques utilized to produce vapor and those are thermal conduction, convection, and thermal radiation.

Conduction

The early vaporizers used conduction, a process through which the a metal plate is heated in order to heat the contents placed upon the plate.

Convection

Unlike with conduction, convection vaporizers pass hot air through the blend which allows for rapid heating and the release of more constituents than with conduction heating systems.

Thermal Radiation
